Blueroof Farm was created by an artist as a private country getaway for her large family. Later, when her family had grown up and spread out around North America , it became a special place for paying guests from all over Canada and around the world.

The house, surrounded by trees — mainly white birch, blue spruce and maples — is difficult to photograph. Only glimpses of the blue can be caught amongst the green of summer or the golds of autumn. Large expanses of the Mediterranean, or Cerulean, blue can only be seen during winter and early spring.
The house sits on five acres of landscaped grounds, plus more than one hundred acres of beautiful Precambrian shield country. The trim around the front door (shown above) was likely made by one of the River Drivers from Quebec who boarded at the farm in the 1840s. The original log cabin (now covered by siding) was built sometime before 1812 when the British enlisted man who built it died. His wife, Sarah Philips, elected to stay in the cabin with their three young sons. Two sons pre-deceased her as she lived on the farm and pioneered it until her death in 1839.
Some of the many special places around the property and in the house have been photographed and our photo galleries contain a large selection of these. Please explore whatever gallery may be of interest to you, and enjoy your visit.
